The Greater Concord Interfaith Council’s annual Holocaust Memorial will be on Monday, April 15. This year’s observance will focus on the Holocaust in Czechoslovakia. From 11am to 1pm, volunteers will read names of Holocaust victims at Eagle Square off of Main Street in Concord. At 6pm, Temple Beth Jacob (67 Broadway) will host a service.
Rabbi Norman Patz will speak at the service. Rabbi Patz teaches theology at Montclair State University in New Jersey and is an expert on the Czechoslovakian Jewish community. One of Temple Beth Jacob’s Torah scrolls comes from the communities of Kolin and Nymburk, Czech Republic where it was rescued 50 years ago after confiscation by the Nazis. The service will also include music, poetry, candle-lighting and reading from the Holocaust Torah Scroll.
