Candle Blessing

Sunday, February 2, 8 & 10am
This Sunday is the celebration of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple  (Luke 2:22-40). February 2, is forty days after Christmas, December 25. Ancient Jewish tradition required that a family took their first-born son to the Temple forty days after his birth. Today we read the story of Mary bringing her six-week old Jesus to offer a sacrifice. The day is also known as Candlemas. We set aside time that morning to bless candles as a sign of the increasing daylight around us.

Bring your candles to our 8am and 10am services! We will bless our altar candles for the year and invite you to participate too!
